COMPASS Mental Health and Addiction Peer Suppport Worker

Health Action Trust is a dynamic and innovative community organisation specialising in community health promotion initiatives and professional mental health peer led services. We are currently looking for a permanent part time mental health and addictions peer support worker for up to 6 hours per week, with the opportunity to increase these hours later in the year. The role is to work as part of our mental health and addictions Advocacy and Peer Support team (COMPASS).


The candidate must have:
• a lived experience of mental illness or distress
• good oral and written communication skills
• proven ability to work positively and effectively within a team environment
• a natural affinity with people, demonstrating caring and empathy
• experience and/or understanding of working in a health based environment
• good time management skills
• a current drivers licence

Kotuku Mental Health & Addiction Peer Support Worker

Health Action Trust is a dynamic and innovative community organisation specialising in community health promotion initiatives and professional mental health peer led services. We are currently looking for a permanent part time mental health and addictions peer support worker for 24 hours per week. The role is to work in our peer led recovery focused respite service.

The candidate must have:
• a lived experience of mental illness or distress
• good oral and written communication skills
• proven ability to work positively and effectively within a team environment.
• a natural affinity with people demonstrating caring and empathy
• an ability to work an overnight sleepover shift if required and weekends.
• good time management skills
• a current drivers licence

Health Action Trust is a dynamic and innovative community organisation specialising in community health promotion initiatives. We are looking for a highly motivated person who can take our workplace wellbeing programme to the next level.  This includes marketing, strengthening and building the customer base, content development, a communications strategy and generating sustainable income.  For further information of the WellBeing@Work programme, please see our website https://www.wellbeingatwork.org.nz/

The appointee will ideally have qualifications and/or skills and experience in:

  • A tertiary qualification or similar experience relevant to business development and marketing
  • An understanding of workplace mental health and wellbeing challenges including mental health problems and stress.
  • A demonstrated understanding of the needs of employers relating to mental health in the workplace.
  • Demonstrated experience in programme planning and project management
  • Training, facilitation and evaluation skills
  • Familiarity with models of health including Maori and Pacific models
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to prepare clear reports and other documentation.
  • A demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with and develop rapport with stakeholders.
  • An understanding of the application of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • Being a supportive team player and contributing to the organisation culture
